What a difference a week makes...

Last week I was bogged down with report writing and comments..no time for distractions or stitching, sad to say.
DH and DD2 were still in Sydney, having flown over for the State of Origin game (and raved about what a great night it was) and then they stayed on and spent some time with my Mum.
I was 'home alone', though I had the dogs for company..it took me a few nights to adjust to how quiet things were..
Then fast forward to this weekend and I had the 'free' time to get on with finishing this mini quilt..which is going to ??????.  I hope ?????? likes it as much as I enjoyed choosing the pattern and the fabric and then stitching it...so much so that I plan on making another one.

FNSI

On Friday I was faced with 2 choices....get on with some stitching for a mini quilt..or proofread report comments that other subject teachers have written for my tutor class...
No prizes for guessing which option won out..yes the stitching!!  Really, there was only ever going to be the one choice and it was a much more enjoyable way to spend a Friday night..
I can show a peek of some stitching, the floss colours I'm working with and the fabric I showed the other day..

New fabric bought...

new project chosen..now to find some time to get started on it..

..not much time for stitching or blogging for a few more days..as the deadline for finishing school reports is looming...eek..wish there was more time in each day...

A peaceful time of the day...

It's another cold, wet day outside , but I am cosy sitting inside my classroom..cars going up and down the hill outside...I was going to write some report comments before going to a meeting at another school at 4 pm ..but that isn't happening.... instead I am just sitting here ...a couple of girls have come back into the room because netball practice is cancelled and they are decorating the whiteboard at the moment..a couple of boys are on a computer at the back of the room...a bit of chatter from both groups, but oh so peaceful at this time of the day...

Mail I like to read.....

....yes I'm not so keen on those envelopes with the windows in them.   In the mailbox today came some welcome mail ....just perfect for sitting down to read on a cold damp afternoon after work.  Time to dream about new projects I would like to make (well at least I hope to get around to making them sometime... if only there was more time in the day..)

I wonder how much longer we will continue to get mail delivered 6 days a week.  The talk is it will reduce to 3 days a week (to save money)..and I have just been reading that there is the same talk in Australia now ..
Gosh, the services we have come to expect all these years are now starting to disappear on us...

My FNWF

Well I think I had the most productive FNWF in a long time.
I cut out felt circles, button hole stitched them together and then stitched them onto the small mat I showed the other day...(there are just a few finishing touches to add to it)..I was busy stitching while DH watched the league on TV..the odd distraction here and there when things got a bit exciting or nerve wracking, but it was a good win to our side..phew...
My daughter showed me Instaframe on the ipad the other day so I have tried that with my photos today..took a while for me to remember how to choose the frame first..but I am pleased with what I achieved.

I hope you all had a productive night as well.  I will pop in to visit over the next day or so.
Happy Stitching!

Making a list.....

...and trying to get on top of some partly finished projects.  Lately I have been good at starting projects but sadly lacking in the finishing of them.  So...I have got out a book in which I am going to plan what I aim to do during the week and then record what I actually achieve each night.  Today's stitching was finishing the stem stitch around the edge of this candle mat before I sew on the circles.  I haven't done a lot with felt before..

So far my plan has been working as I have been able to write down something that I have worked on each night this week..will see how it all goes...

A Toast for Chooky and the Chookshed..

I hope it was a great celebration for all
at the chookshed…

and around in cyber space..

I'm sure that there were many glasses raised in honour of the celebrations for the Chookshed birthday over the weekend..and a glass was raised in the Chookshed's honour from me here in the deep south..

..and a most enjoyable drop it was too... just one of those mini bottles of 200mls though..and now there is one empty bottle lying on the bench....
Will it be on again next year???.I hope so..

Well it wasn't your ordinary party...

....but it was still joining the celebration....going to a quilt exhibition and having a lovely day out was a great way to be a part of the Chookshed's birthday bash. (certainly not my usual Saturday routine!!)
Saturday morning saw myself and one of my Friday group stitching friends heading up the highway to a quilt exhibition.  It was a frosty start to the day so a little care on the roads was needed at first but what a lovely sunny day it turned out to be.
It was also the annual Steampunk Weekend in the same town so there were quite a few people of all ages dressed up.  Here are a few shots from the day....
an old traction engine making its way down the street
a view from the side
Steampunk Central perhaps...

wandering the streets of the historical precinct we came across this contraption
..and if you look closely you can see some people dressed up in the background.

And so what about the Quilt Exhibition..well this car was parked outside the hall to show us where it was..
..and I think I will save that report for tomorrow...
