It's been a busy week...

my sewing machine has been whirring away at night over the past week...but I have not been the one operating it.  DD2 needed a costume for this weekend so she waited till I was back from Sydney to get started.  With work, a little bit has had to be done each night.  DD2 has been doing the sewing and 'creating' and I have been the 'support crew'...with some pinning (many seams together), cutting out, fitting, trimming, and re-threading the overlocker several times (what a job that is!) and 'offering advice' when it was asked for..here are a few photos of the nearly end result,  themed on the Queen of Hearts...finishing touches and accessories tonight

26 January...

Happy Australia Day to all of you in Australia.  Hope you have a wonderful day....

Now why is it that when you want to take a photo the batteries are flat on the camera.  So after charging them last night I have been able to take a few quick photos this afternoon.
This year I've joined the one item for Christmas group...
and how quickly the 25th of the month rolls around when you join half way through.  So yesterday I stitched this little design (and finished it in a different way to the pattern) so I would have something to show for the month.

I also joined up for Friday Night Sewing and did some more stitching on this work in progress.
I hope you all found a little time to do some stitching as well...

SSCS update

I have a few things to catch up on since I got home and posting a picture of the SSCS gift I received from Bev is one of them.  I wasn't at home for Christmas so I had to open my gift on Christmas Eve, not too long before I left for the airport.  I managed to have just enough time to email Bev, to thank her, before I had to leave.  I received this fabulous table topper and I just love it, Bev,  the design, the fabric, the quilting..it was such a lovely surprise package to open.
I was sending a parcel to Peg and this is what I sent to her..
I saw in a photo on her blog that she had a cupcake runner and a mini quilt frame, so I made a mini quilt with teacups, teapot etc and the saying...Coffee or a pot of tea, please sit and share a cup with me..I included a copy of the new Zealand Quilter magazine and a piece of fabric with Pohutakawa flowers on it (since it flowers at Christmas time it is also known as the New Zealand Christmas tree in some places.)
It was a great swap to be in again this year and Chookyblue very generously organised it for us.
Phew...I just pushed a button and thought I'd lost this post...lucky for me it was still there somewhere..
Have a great week and enjoy your stitching.

I'm back...

I flew back home from Sydney today..after spending a lovely 3 weeks with my Mum.  The flight home was good but I didn't enjoy the 2 hour delay waiting for the flight to leave Sydney.  I have lots of blog reading to catch up on, but I think I will start on that tomorrow.  I'm sure you have all been doing lots of interesting things over the last few weeks.
I couldn't get over how dry it was over there... there was some rain in Sydney on Christmas Day and then none till yesterday...and then there are the bushfires that are destroying so much in their paths.  Hopefully those of you who live in country areas are not adversely affected.....
